Getting started - Admin Portal - Instructor time (Sessions Vs Hours)

An Instructor running a RYA Radar Course will need access to the simulator so that they can demonstrate aspects of the simulator use and all of the radar features that you are teaching the student.

There are three ways of doing this:
  1. Simulator credit: The school purchases a course credit that is valid for the day of the course. At the end of the day the credit is ‘spent’.
  2. Simulator hours: The school purchases a block of hours for the use of its instructors. These are available to purchase in 5, 10 and 20 hour blocks. Instructors logon using the email address used for this by the school and use as much time is necessary to deliver the course. Time is used in blocks of 15 minutes and instructors can log in and log out throughout the course to minimise the hours they are using. These hours don’t expire so a 10 hour block may last for a number of courses and instructor practice sessions.
  3. Student login: The Instructor could use a student workstation as a means to demonstrate the areas they wish to show.
Option 2 appears to offer the best balance of flexibility and cost.

NOTE: Simulator hours cannot be used to run the course. To run the course a Simulator credit must be purchased. Simulator activity is monitored and usage is subject to our Terms of Business.
